Richard Villar works at The Wellington Hospital, London (UK) in a largely specialist hip practice encompassing both hip arthroscopic surgery and hip arthroplasty. He is also the Assistant Editor of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (British volume) and a Founding Member of the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy. He forms part of the United Kingdom Disaster Emergency Response team and is an orthopaedic fitness to practise assessor for the UK General Medical Council. He is widely published and lectures and teaches extensively, both nationally and internationally. He has been performing hip arthroscopic surgery regularly since 1988 and has developed his own school of hip arthroscopic surgery. He is married, with three children, and lives in both London and near Cambridge (UK). His outside interests include writing, mountaineering and Nordic skiing.
