ISHA’s 16th Annual Scientific Meeting saw the Society return to North America for the first time in 2016, meeting at JW Marriott at the heart of the vibrant city of Washington, DC from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 October 2024.
The theme of the ISHA 2024 Meeting was “Hip Health: Bridging Innovation and Preservation”, with the aim of underscoring the importance of innovation whilst emphasising the ultimate goal of maintaining and improving hip health through prevention, early detection and preservation. The focus was firmly on the future and on emerging technologies and directions, looking at what people who are specialised and focused on hip preservation are doing at the leading edge of what can be done, and thinking about what surgeons will be doing in the next 10-20 years.
A record number of abstracts was received, producing a wide variety of top-quality research presentations in the core topic areas of:
The future of labral preservation and treatment
Hip instability – new frontiers in assessment and treatment
Extra-articular hip pathology (GTPS, IFI, deep gluteal pathology, hip-spine syndrome, hamstring pathology) – new frontiers in assessment and treatment
Biologics and articular cartilage – where do we go from here?
Technology – innovations in AI, VR, AR and imaging
Patient specific focus
Alongside cutting-edge research, delegates were able to enjoy instructional course lectures, debates and technical deep dive sessions featuring experts in the field, re-live surgery sessions, partner symposia with ISHA Parter Societies AANA and ESSKA, and much more.
On Saturday 19 October there was the ever-popular ISHA Physiotherapy Programme, organised by ISHA’s Physiotherapy Committee, as well as the first-ever ISHA Advanced Practice Provider Programme, which featured lecture-based and hands-on elements and focused in detail on the needs and interests of physician assistants, senior practitioners, nurse practitioners and other physician extenders.
